The Steps to Creating the Best Online Birthday Party 

Planning a party is never an easy task as you wish it to be. There is a lot of planning that you have to do. But, if you follow these steps then you and your gang of friends will have a rocking time from the comfort of their own, individual homes. 

Step 1: Timing

The main purpose of any type of party is to bring people together at the same time. With the internet this can be done. However, you can also invite some people from different time zones if you want. And this latter point can be a bit of a challenge since you would have to account for the difference in times. But, once you have figured it out and have spoken to them of when they can come online you are halfway there. 

Step 2: Where to Host

Now you will physically be at home so that part is not as important as it once was. But, when it comes to online platforms it is. There are many apps and sites that allow you to host video conferences. But, it is important to choose one and make it clear to your guests which one it is that they will be using. You would not like to set up a Skype call and someone thinks the party is on Zoom. 

Speaking of Zoom. That is a great platform where you can host 100 people for free but only for 40 minutes. This could be a bit short for a party atmosphere. But, you can alway set up a new call and send your guests a new link to keep the event going. Or you can opt for a subscription unless you already have one.

Skype is also old in this regard but it can last longer. However, you would be limited to 50 people. But, if your party is small with your close friends then Skype seems to be the better option. 

Step 3: What to do 

Now that all the “paperwork” is out the way then you can decide what you want to do for the actual event. Is it a chilled hangout with just chatting? Or is it a Netflix watch party where you all decide to watch one movie at the same time and chat? Or do you want to play games? You can opt to play video slots for free and make a friendly competition for who can make the most “money”. Slots can be a lot of fun without spending any real money. Or you can go down the old-school route of boardgames. Either way make sure that you decide what to do beforehand and let them know. 

Step 4: Sending

Once you have figured everything out, then you should send a link (if you are using Zoom) or your name (for Skype) to your attendants. Also send out a friendly reminder so that the event does not skip their mind. While they are at home, a lot can go on and it is easy for them, and you, to lose track of time as well as the date. 

Day of 

Let’s fast-forward to the day of the Online Birthday Party. You should make it an event like you would with any party. Even though you are at home the occasion calls for an outfit that you would wear on the night of the town. Just not the shoes. It is still a birthday party after all.
